Moses went up to Mount Sinai to communicate with God. After a number of days, God gave Moses two tablets made of stone, upon which were written the Ten Commandments. These commandments were considered a moral code of conduct for the Israelites to follow. However, while Moses was on the mountain, the Israelites became impatient and began worshipping a golden calf. When Moses came down from the mountain and saw this, he threw the tablets to the ground and they were smashed into pieces.
